Overview

SmartNote is an AI-powered Android study companion built as the COMP5216 Mobile Computing group project (Group 3, 2024). The app addresses the fragmented way students capture and revise study material — handwritten notes, lecture audio, whiteboard photos, and typed documents scattered across multiple tools — by consolidating capture, comprehension, and revision into a single AI-integrated app.

Features

Audio to text: tap record during a lecture or meeting to transcribe speech to text in real time, capturing everything without manual typing.

Image to text (OCR): photograph handwritten notes or whiteboard content and have it converted to editable digital text — eliminating retyping and the risk of missing information while copying from slides.

AI-generated practice questions: SmartNote generates personalised practice exam questions from your notes in a format of your choice, turning passive notes into active revision.

Translation: translate notes into any of 19 languages with a single tap — supporting international students, language learners, and cross-language collaboration.

Note accuracy checking: the app reviews your notes for factual accuracy, identifies gaps in understanding, and suggests improvements so you can study with confidence.

Data visualisation: complex information, equations, and data are rendered as easy-to-understand visualisations to make difficult concepts click.

Intelligent summaries: SmartNote generates concise summaries of your notes, highlighting key concepts and connections for faster revision.
